Conveniently located just 900 metres from Distinction Rotorua Hotel, Te Puia is situated in the geothermal valley of Te Whakarewarewa and is a powerful reminder of the earth’s natural force. It is home to the world famous Pōhutu Geyser, hot springs, silica terraces, bubbling mud pools and cooking pools. Guides walk these pathways relaying the wisdom of their ancestors. Te Puia proudly share artistic traditions, passed down through generations through their schools of carving and weaving.
Steambox utilises a natural steam vent to slowly cook the ingredients that visitors choose themselves, before enjoying a flax workshop and tour. Guests then watch their lunch being lifted from the steam vent before enjoying their picnic lunch overlooking the geyser terrace.
At dusk, Te Puia takes on a magical quality in the illuminated thermal valley. Te Pō is an award-winning evening experience of Maori storytelling, entertainment, a sumptuous banquet and a hot chocolate beside a moonlit Pōhutu geyser.
